Ian Galvin, Director of PVP

While growing up in Columbia, South Carolina, Ian was heavily involved in vocal and instrumental music from his early school days. Since his introduction to barbershop in 2006, he’s been active in a number of quartets and choruses. Just a few years after joining The Main Street Harmonizers chorus in Lexington, SC, he was co-directing them at the District contest. Ian performed in the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) Midwinter youth chorus contests from 2010-2012 with both Savannah Storm (under the direction of Jeremy Conover) and Georgia Spirit. He competed on the International stage with the Atlanta Vocal Project chorus in 2009 and 2011, and earned an International Chorus Gold Medal with the Music City Chorus in 2022.

Ian's collegiate quartet, The Vigilantes were crowned Dixie District Collegiate Quartet Champions in 2011, and went on to compete in the Bank of America Collegiate Barbershop Quartet contest in Kansas City, MO where they won the silver medal. The following year the quartet qualified for the BHS International Quartet Contest in Portland, OR where they finished in the top 40. In 2014, his quartet, Forecast was awarded the silver medal at the Mid-Atlantic Southern Divisional contest in Roanoke, VA.

Entourage Quartet first started to come together in late 2017. In the quartets’ first competitive appearance, they won first place, and were crowned 2018 District Champions! They strung together several appearances at the Barbershop Harmony Society International Quartet contest in 2019, 2022, 2023, placing as high as 21st.

For his final four years in Virginia, Ian sang with The Neptuners quartet, 2019 Mid-Atlantic Southern Division Champions, and directed the Commodore Chorus, Norfolk, VA chapter of the BHS, leading them to back to back most improved chorus awards, and a second place finish in the 2020 Mid-Atlantic Southern Divisional contest. In July of 2022, Ian’s work with Humana brought him to Summerville, SC where he lives with his wife, Katy, and their two young children, Silas and Delaney.
